Practicum Teaching

Returning 2024 as part of the GYS RYT 200 training.

Fully interactive teaching practice opportunities

For GYS-RYT 200 students

Fees applicable - discuss with Lead Trainers

As a GYS-RYT 200 student, teaching practice is a primary component of gaining confidence and skill to ultimately lead your own class of students, at an enhanced training level.  As part of the Yoga Alliance Standards for RYT accreditation, within the 200 hours of training, students must have successfully demonstrated their teaching and yoga awareness as evaluated by the Lead Trainers.

To achieve this GYS-RYT 200 students must teach the equivalent of 10 hours of evaluated training. This includes practice teaching, Q&A opportunities, peer review and continued skills development. This will be coordinated on an ongoing basis throughout training between GYS-RYT 200 students and available Lead Trainers.

Practicum training hours can be gained through ICE evaluations (for those seeking Yoga Fitness Instructors registration with BCRPA), teaching segments of pre-approved adult yoga classes within the community, peer-to-peer teaching via pre-scheduled GYS-RYT group sessions, or privately coordinated classes with support from friends & family.  Zoom or in-person options available. A GYS Lead Trainer must be present for all practicum training, evaluation and review.

Within the 10 hours of practice teaching (beyond the time allotted to workshops), the student will be required to design, and teach a minimum of 5 one hour yoga classes.

GYS reserves the right to cancel without minimum registration. Full refund or program transfer options offered.
